UPDATE: Police identify man who dies following collision

A 74-year-old man who died following a collision on Wednesday has been identified as Denzil Allman, 74, of #102 Cherry Drive, Oxnard, St James.

Police said the collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. along Black Rock main Road at its junction with Fairfield Road, St Michael.

Allman’s car and a police vehicle were involved in the collision. Allman was the driver and sole occupant of his vehicle.

“The motorcar was travelling along Fairfield main Road towards Deacons Road whilst the motor van MP 1373 was travelling in an easterly direction from lower Black Rock main Road towards upper Black Rock road. On reaching the intersection of the traffic lights, both vehicles became involved in a collision, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver of the motor car SA2511. He died on the spot. The police officers complained of various injuries and were taken away for medical attention,” a statement from police said.

Ambulance personnel responded and Allman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two fire tenders and eight personnel responded to the scene.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Investigations are ongoing. (PR)
