Events in doubt

A leading events promoter says time is running out on Barbados’ entertainment industry.

Managing director of Nouvelle Vie Entertainment and chief executive officer of TicketPal Caribbean Inc., Orlando Newton, said big events for Christmas and Old Year’s Night were in doubt.

“The new directives should be coming [today] or on the 15th. However, promoters need adequate time to plan events. As soon as one ends, we are already planning for the next, so how can they expect us to produce at such short notice? The longer they take to have dialogue with us, the longer it will take for the season to restart,” he told the DAILY NATION yesterday.

Newton said the industry was in limbo as no one had been given the green light to hold any major events. (CA)
