78 new virus cases

There were 78 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases (35 males and 43 females) recorded on Tuesday, December, 14, from among the 1 053 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the new cases, 13 people were under the age of 18, and 65 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 193, while 1 502 were in home isolation.

A 48-year-old man died from COVID-19 on Tuesday. He was at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility and was unvaccinated. As at December 14, there were 254 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 454 146 tests since February last year, and recorded 27 027 cases (12 855 males and 14 172 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 154 702 (67.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 140 662 (51.9 per cent of the total population or 61.6 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
