Horse racing is set to become the first sport in Barbados to be granted permission for spectators since Government introduced the latest COVID-19 directives.

The COVID-19 Monitoring Unit has given the Barbados Turf Club (BTC) the green light for fully vaccinated fans to attend the December 27 race day at the Garrison Savannah.

Chief executive officer of the BTC, Rosette Peirce, confirmed this development to NATION SPORT yesterday during a telephone interview.

“Only fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed and it extends to all the staff, jockeys and trainers. There will be no unvaccinated people allowed on the premises,” she said.

It will be the first time in a year that Barbadians will be allowed to sit in the stands at the Garrison due to COVID-19 restrictions. (AG-B)
