Nurses won’t be bullied, says Franklyn

Head of the Unity Workers’ Union, Senator Caswell Franklyn, is doubling down on his decision to lead nurses on strike action, and sending a message to Government that health care providers will not “be bullied or scared off” by its decision to dock their pay for the days they withheld labour.

In fact, Franklyn told the Weekend Nation that since the Prime Minister’s scathing condemnation of the strike action on Wednesday, the protest had picked up even greater momentum.

He also argued that the strike was much larger than officials were making it out to be, adding that it was the Government’s inaction that had resulted in any potential threat to patient care within the health system. (CLM)
