Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly, Santia Bradshaw, yesterday strongly condemned the strike action being taken by nurses who are part of the Unity Workers’ Union led by Senator Caswell Franklyn.

Speaking before the Lower Chamber went on its Christmas break, Bradshaw, who is also Minister of Education, called on political leaders to do the right thing.

Pointing out that this was the season of sharing, caring and giving, she said: “I think that it is important we appreciate and understand that when calls are made on us as leaders to denounce things that can affect the very fabric of our society and disrupt the life that Barbadians are accustomed to, we must not take that lightly.”

She called on “respective leaders” to no longer stand in silence “but to denounce those who seek to prevent people who have put their lives forward to help others, to allow them to be to be able to do what they have stepped forward to do. (MB)
