49 new COVID cases on Saturday

Forty-nine new COVID-19 cases – 25 males and 24 females – were reported for Saturday, December 18, from the 1 040 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new positives comprise 10 people who are under the age of 18, and 39 who are 18 years and older. There were 178 people in isolation facilities, and 1 131 in home isolation.

Barbados’ confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded since March last year, stand at 27 218 (12 939 males and 14 279 females). There were no deaths recorded yesterday, so that number remains at 256.

The public health laboratory carried out 458 730 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 155 192 (68 per cent of the eligible population). The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 141 900 (52.3 per cent of the total population or 62.1 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.  (BGIS)
