A small craft advisory is in effect for above normal swell heights.

Barbados Meteorological Services said this advisory will be terminated at 6 a.m. on Thursday, December 23 or sooner if conditions warrant.

A small-craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 to 3.0 metres (8 to 10 feet) are affecting or are forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.

Surface winds of 20 knots across the tropical Atlantic are expected to generate moderate to rough sea swells in open water ranging from 2.0 to 3.0 metres ( 7 to 10 ft ) along the northern, north-eastern and eastern coasts.

All marine craft operators and beachgoers should note that large open water swells can be hazardous. Additionally, operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times due to large swells.
