51 new COVID cases

Fifty-one people – 27 females and 24 males – were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Sunday, December 26, from the 542 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases comprised six people under the age of 18, and 45 who were 18 years and older.

There were 93 people in isolation facilities, while 877 were in home isolation.

As at December 26, there were 260 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory carried out 465 597 tests since February last year, and recorded 27 724 COVID-19 cases (13 187 males and 14 537 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155 500 (68.1 per cent of the eligible population).  The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 142 839 (52.7 per cent of the total population or 62.5 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
