It was a quiet affair for Democratic Labour Party candidate Dr Ronnie Yearwood earlier this morning at the West Terrace Primary School where he was nominated by Michael Turton and Stacia Browne to contest the St James South seat for the party.

A small group of supporters, including his mother Grace Yearwood, wife Lucy, their son Solomon and party stalwarts Undene Whittaker and Maxine McClean, accompanied the first-timer.

The latter was one of his witnesses.

At 10 a.m., Returning Officer Wayne Taylor read the election writ after which Yearwood and his team compromising his proposer, seconder, and election agent and wife sanitised their hands, had their temperature taken before entering the room.

Yearwood told reporters afterwards he would be back on the campaign trail. (GBM)
