No ease for ‘hand on a woman’

There will be no reprimand and discharge for a man who “put his hand on a woman”.

So said Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes as he turned down attorney Mohia Ma’at’s request for such a sentence to be imposed on Adrian Daniel Skeete.

The 55-year-old truck driver, of Codrington, Stewart Hill, St John, who was in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, had pleaded guilty to assaulting Yvrose Taylor occasioning her actual bodily harm last November 27.

He was also charged with, but pleaded not guilty to, damaging a cell phone and a pair of spectacles belonging to Junika Taylor, and assaulting Junika Taylor occasioning her actual bodily harm on November 27. (HLE)
