Parents who try their best with persistently wayward children should put their belongings at the door when those children turn 18.
“There are some parents,” said Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes, “who do their very best and the children don’t hear. But I believe from the time that child gets 18, that child’s things should be in the verandah. You would come home and find your things in the verandah and I change the locks. You on your own.
“All across the Caribbean these children lack discipline and they seem to be running households. And that is why a father could call a child li’l man’ cause the child running the house,” he said.
His comments came as he dealt with 17-year-old Ericko Malique Williams in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday. (HLE)
