677 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 677 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases – 300 males and 377 females – from the 2 565 tests carried out on Tuesday, January 18.

The new cases consisted of 121 people under the age of 18, and 556 who were 18 years and older.

There were 103 people in isolation facilities, while 5 561 were in home isolation.

As at January 18, there were 271 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 508 874 tests since February 2020, and recorded 37 063 COVID-19 cases (17 264 males and 19 799 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 157 793 (69.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 146 257 (54 per cent of the total population or 64 per cent of the eligible population),

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
