Call it taking one for the Prime Minister and Barbados.
Jeffrey Rudolph Alleyne said he was in “foreign” when he got shot for defending Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
“I was over there [St Vincent] dealing with some business and somebody over there, the rastas and I was talking, and they try to disrespect Barbados, talking ’bout how we feel we righteous, and how we Prime Minister is x, y, z. I say what you talking ’bout. I say look wunna volcano so wunna got to be unrighteous. So when I was stepping out men open fire and put shots in me,” Alleyne explained.
The problem was, however, that Alleyne had not sought any permission to travel while he was on bail and he missed his court date.
Alleyne, of Sobers Lane, Greenfield, St Michael, was back before the No. 4 Supreme Court where he is facing a trial for robbing Renaldo Clarke of a pair of bangles, two bracelets, a ring and $1 700 on May 11, 2006. (HLE)
