Herbie Jordan says he is in desperate need of help.

His clothes are filled with holes and patches, the flooring in his Marley Vale, St Philip house is the same state and he sleeps with a crocus bag on his bed in case the rain starts to fall or he has to block out the cold night air.

Jordan, 67, said his problems began about 15 years ago when he stopped working. He said that he always did odd jobs for people, but for quite some time he had been unable to get any steady employment.

He explained that he has one son, who lives with his mother’s family, and there were no other family members to rely on. (RA)
