Davidson Ishmael, the new Minister of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, is spending the first day at his Baobab Towers, Warrens, St Michael office today.

Ishmael is a first-time Barbados Labour Party (BLP) candidate who successfully contested the January 19 General election in St Michael North.

Kay McConney, Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, previously held the portfolio of Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology; while Ronald Toppin, former Member of Parliament for St Michael North, was Minister of Industry and International Business.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced the 20-member Cabinet on Monday. Reduced from 24 to 20 members, the Cabinet features some other new faces and changes.

The Cabinet was sworn in on Wednesday at State House.

This included Dr William Duguid, a senior minister, whose appointment was not announced with the original group.

The BLP recorded a historic second consecutive 30-0 sweep of General Elections on January 19. (KG)
