Former England cricketer Roland Butcher says the West Indies cricket team has taken steps in the right direction following the five-match Twenty20 International series against England at Kensington Oval.
The 66-year-old Barbadian-born Butcher, the first black man to play for England, is commending the Windies for showing determination and courage against the world No. 1 ranked T20 team.
“[West Indies] lost the last series to Ireland so anything after that would be going forward. After losing to Ireland they have put in some good performances against England.
“I know England are not at full strength but they still have some very good and capable players and even the replacement players are players with far more T20 experience at county level than the West Indies players so they will still be very strong,” Butcher told NATIONSPORT yesterday at the region’s mecca.
