Barbadian assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford

Barbadian Amanda Dawson, a logistics specialist 2nd Class assigned to the USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) supply department, is pictured in the attached photograph using a sound-powered phone to establish communications during a Phase III crew certification evaluation on January 26.

The photograph was submitted to the DAILY NATION by the Navy Office of Community Outreach which travels the globe collecting sailor photos to share with hometown media.

Dawson was engaged in the Phase III Crew Certification which focuses on how the ship’s training teams accomplish necessary crew training needed to return the ship to sea.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is in port at Newport News Shipyard executing its Planned Incremental Availability (PIA), a six-month period of modernisation, maintenance and repairs.

When contacted yesterday for more information on Dawson, army officials said they will try to facilitate an interview with the Barbadian at a later date. (MB)
