Barbadian Olympic sprinter Tristan Evelyn produced a stunning performance to break the national record and strike gold in the women’s indoor 60-metre event in Hartwig-Gauder-Halle, Erfurt, Germany.

Evelyn had an explosive start and maintained her impressive stride to clock a new personal best time of 7.27 seconds on Tuesday.

She erased the previous five-year record of 7.29 seconds set by Ashley Marshall six years ago.

Evelyn, a former CARIFTA Games and Central American And Caribbean (CAC) Games silver medallist, was elated with her performance.

“Of course, it feels amazing to have another record,” Evelyn told Nationsport. “Anytime the national record is broken, it means we (Barbados) are heading in a better direction. Also, it’s good to see my hard work be rewarded in this way. (AGB)
