Jonathan Jones added another Barbados national record to his growing collection.

Competing in his first 800 metres race since winning gold over the distance at the 2018 CARIFTA Games in Bahamas, Jones shattered the previous indoor record of one minute, 49.09 seconds set by Ronald Thorne in 1995, storming to victory in a new personal best of 1 min, 46.93 secs at the Tiger Paw Invitational.

His new time is also a University of Texas record and the NCAA leading time for the 2022 season.

Quarter-miler Jones also continued his remarkable start to the indoor season with a world-leading time at the New Mexico Collegiate Indoor Classic last weekend.
