255 new COVID cases and 1 death on Friday

A total of 255 people – 118 males and 137 females – tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, February 18, when the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1 386 tests.

Of the new cases, 53 people were under the age of 18 and 202 were 18 years and older. There were 106 in isolation facilities and 4 204 in home isolation.

A 52-year-old vaccinated Barbadian woman died from the virus on Friday, February 18, bringing the COVID-19 deaths to 308.

The public health laboratory has carried out 575 605 tests since February 2020, and recorded 53 508 cases (24 838 males and 28 670 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 159 792 (70 per cent of the eligible population). The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 148 882 (54.9 per cent of the total population or 65.2 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
