A rescue operation is under way at Coles Cave, St Thomas.

Acting Station Officer of the Barbados Fire Service Marlon Small said personnel are within the mouth of the cave but are being hindered by the amount of water.

As a result, they have requested the assistance of the Barbados Defence Force.

Small said a call was received after 7 p.m., when a person was reportedly unaccounted for after a tour of the cave. He said 15 officers responded, along with two rescue tenders and three appliances.

More details to follow. (KG)
