COVID-19 update for March 3

There were 158 new COVID-19 cases, 67 males and 91 females, recorded from the 921 tests conducted on Thursday, March 3, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 33 people were under the age of 18 and 125 were 18 years and older.

There were 60 people in isolation facilities, while 1 618 were in home isolation.

As at March 3,  316 people had succumbed to the virus.

The public health laboratory carried out 589 703 tests since February 2020, and recorded 55 863 COVID-19 cases (25 932 males and 29 931 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 160 340 (70.2 per cent of the eligible population). The number of fully vaccinated people is 149 796 (55.3 per cent of the total population or 65.6 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
