COVID-19 update for March 4

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 150 people (69 males and 81 females) as COVID-19 positive from the 997 tests carried out on Friday, March 4.

The cases comprised 28 people under the age of 18 and 122 who were 18 years and older.

There were 53 people in isolation facilities, while 1 518 were in home isolation.

Three people died from the viral illness; a 32-year-old vaccinated man; an 80-year-old unvaccinated woman and an 84-year-old unvaccinated man.

As at March 4, the virus had claimed 319 lives.

The public health laboratory carried out 590 700 tests since February 2020, and recorded 56 013 COVID-19 cases (26 001 males and 30 012 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 160 450 (70.3 per cent of the eligible population). The number of fully vaccinated is 149 913 (55.3 per cent of the total population or 65.6 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
