North Sound – West Indies head coach Phil Simmons says the three-Test series between his side and England, starting today at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (VRCG) in Antigua, will come down to a contest between four players.

Simmons said the performances of highly rated all-rounders Jason Holder and Ben Stokes, and captains Kraigg Brathwaite and Joe Root will ultimately hold sway in the series, the first to be contested for the newly minted Richards- Botham Trophy.

“One of the things that will play a part is how well the two all-rounders cancel out each other, and the other part is how well the two captains bat,” he said during an online media conference on the eve of the Test.

Holder is currently the No.1 ranked all-rounder in the world in Tests – a position that may come under threat after the performance from No.3 Ravindra Jadeja of India in the first Test against Sri Lanka that ended on Sunday – and Stokes is rated at No.6. (AR)
