A High Court Judge has called for Dodds Prison to have a COVID-19 plan as at least one court lost a day of work because remanded accused could not come there.

The call came from Justice Carlisle Greaves as he presided in the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday.

“The prison has got to get a COVID plan. They’ve got to rearrange their business differently. They can’t be delaying us with trials.

“Something has got to be done with the way Dodds operates with this COVID. If it is as the world is saying, that we got to live with it, then we can’t be belabouring this for all these weeks,” he said. “We can’t even do Zoom?”

An aggravated burglary trial with three accused was scheduled to start yesterday and the complainant was present.

One accused, who was on bail, and his attorney Lesley Cargill-Straker were present, but the men who are on remand were absent. (HLE)
