Police are investigating two shooting incidents in St Michael.

Officers are at 7th Avenue New Orleans, the scene of the shooting death of a 56-year-old man; while others have cordoned off an area between Waterhall Land and Hill Road, where another man was injured.

Regarding the shooting death, police said a call was received today around 9:30 a.m. The man reportedly received injuries to the chest and back and was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by private transport. He was later pronounced dead by a doctor while receiving treatment.

In the other incident, in a “location between Waterhall Land and Hill Road”, police officers responded to a report of a shooting which occurred around 10 a.m.

Police said a motorcyclist, along with a pillion passenger, reportedly rode through the area and discharged a number of gunshots, injuring a 23-year-old man before riding away.

The victim was transported to the QEH by ambulance for medical treatment. The scene has been cordoned off as investigations are ongoing. (PR/KG)
