117 new virus cases

There were 117 new coronavirus (COVID-19 ) cases, 47 males and 70 females, recorded from the 907 tests conducted on Friday, March 11, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 28 people were under the age of 18, and 89 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 48, while 1 285 were in home isolation.

A 53-year-old unvaccinated male died from the viral illness on Friday. As at March 11, a total of 324 lives had been lost to COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has carried out 597 029 tests since February 2020, and recorded 56 922 COVID-19 cases (26 387 males and 30 535 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 160 577 (70.3 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people is 150 271 (55.4 per cent of the total population or 65.8 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
