112 new COVID cases and one death

One hundred and twelve new COVID-19 cases (50 males and 62 females) were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, on Friday, March 18, from the 755 tests conducted.

These comprised 18 people under the age of 18, and 94 who were 18 years and older.

There were 50 people in isolation facilities and 1 158 in home isolation.

One death was recorded – an 87-year-old unvaccinated female – bringing the number of deaths as a result of the viral illness to 327.

The public health laboratory has carried out 602 521 tests since February 2020, and recorded 57 660 COVID-19 cases – 26 730 males and 30 930 females.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 160 780 (70.4 per cent of the eligible population). The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 150 645 (55.6 per cent or 70.0 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
