Today is D-Day in secondary schools’ track and field.

Junior athletics supremacy will be decided today and tomorrow when the Powerade/Dasani Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships (BSSAC) return at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

It is the first time the premier junior track and field meet in the island will be held since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic struck in March 2020.

Hundreds of athletes will be wearing their respective school kits, but they will participate as members of the Peter Vaughn, Jennifer and Anthony Jones, and Geoffrey Burke Zones.

The first races on the schedule are the Under-17 girls’ 400 metres preliminaries, while the opening field event is the boys’ Open high jump, and both are set to begin at 10 a.m.
