Some teachers at Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary are concerned with the lack of school monitors at the various satellite locations and are calling on education officials to urgently rectify the situation.

The school monitors, allocated by the Ministry of Education, were put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They assist with sanitisation at the gates, bathrooms, lunch lines, and at the taps.

Classes split in four

Since refurbishment work began at the Lascelles Terrace, Pinelands, St Michael school, classes have been split at four satellite sites; The University of the West Indies Open Campus in The Pine, the Barbados Boy Scouts Association in Collymore Rock, and Tower Bucknell in Belleville, all in St Michael, and the St Matthias Church Annex in Christ Church.

President of the Barbados Union of Teachers Rudy Lovell confirmed the situation last week. (RA)
