With no money in hand and with his sister now applying for a loan, self-confessed gunman Kemar Tamall Walrond could be staring at time in prison when he returns to the No 3 Supreme Court this week.
Walrond, 35, of Back Ivy, St Michael, was back before Justice Carlisle Greaves on Friday after he had admitted, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, having a .22-calibre semi-automatic pistol on March 8, 2012.
His attorney Latisha Springer informed the court that Walrond’s sister had applied for a loan to help raise at least $10 000 for a forthwith fine, but Justice Greaves said the time for promises had passed.
“When you come to my court for sentencing on a firearm you bring money with you. You do not come with any promises. I am not in the promises business,” he told Walrond.
He added that those who plead guilty to gun possession should do all in their powers to pay a fine, since the alternative was jail. (HLE)
