377 new COVID cases and one death

A total of 377 people, 185 males and 192 females, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, April 6, from the 1 401 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 69 people under the age of 18 and 308 who were 18 years and older.

There were 74 people in isolation facilities, while 1 902 were in home isolation.

An 85-year-old unvaccinated woman succumbed to the viral illness on Wednesday. As at April 6, there were 377 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has carried out 620 629 tests since February 2020, and recorded 61 267 COVID-19 cases (28 351 males and 32 916 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 161 272 (70.6 per cent of the eligible population). The number of fully vaccinated persons is 151 364 (55.8 per cent of the total population or 66.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
