The Massy Supermarket at Worthing, Christ Church has been closed temporarily, following a fire earlier today.

The Barbados Fire Service received an emergency call around 5:53 a.m. about the blaze and three tenders, with15 fire officers responded.

General manager of Massy Stores Randall Banfield said no one was in the building when the fire started.

He said that it appears the fire started at the front of the store.

Banfield asked customers to be patient while repairs are undertaken. The general manager said he was unable to say when the building would be reopened.

Banfield said the authorities were conducting investigations and, as a result, management did not have full access to the building at this time. (SB)
