471 new virus cases

Barbados recorded 471 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 229 males and 242 females, from the 1 947 tests carried out on Wednesday, May 11, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 104 people under the age of 18, and 367 who were 18 years and older.

There were 108 people in isolation facilities, while 3 697 were in home isolation,

A 70-year-old vaccinated man and a 92-year-old unvaccinated woman died from the virus on Wednesday.

As at May 11, there were 432 deaths related to COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has conducted 666 454 tests since February 2020, and recorded 75 438 COVID-19 cases (34 557 males and 40 881 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 161 974 (70.9 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully-vaccinated people is 152 295 (56.2 per cent of the total population or 66.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
