Some areas of St James are under assault by unscrupulous individuals, prompting a major response by Government and law enforcement.

On Saturday, more than 100 residents met with St James South Member of Parliament Sandra Husbands, crime prevention officer Inspector Stephen Griffith and other police officials for around three hours to discuss what could be done.

Assaults are taking place against women where a perpetrator is making sexual advances and/or stealing their purses in areas such as Husbands Heights, Husbands Terrace, Cave Hill, Wanstead Heights, Wanstead Terrace, Oxnards and Crystal Heights.

They usually take place between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. The culprit reportedly returns the empty purses to the scene. (CA)
