Barbadians have been told to take advantage of the free courses offered by the National Transformation Initiative (NTI), in particular languages and citizenship.
It has come from Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, who said she had signed up for both of them in what little free time she had. She added that learning citizenship was the only way “to live good”.
Mottley said that Barbados had lapsed when it came to training and retooling for the modern era.
Speaking yesterday during the media launch of Phase 2 of the NTI at The Valley Resource Centre, St George, she said people had become complacent over the past decade.
“The NTI is about making Barbados, world-class by 2030, and at that point we will have to set new initiatives. One of the points that has disturbed me on our Independence journey is that, having come out of the blocks fast and having done well, we have started to settle for less, to become complacent, and that is the one thing we cannot do.” (CA)
