NASSAU, Bahamas – Prime Minister Phillip Davis will on Wednesday deliver the first national budget to Parliament since his Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) was swept into office in September last year.

The budget will be delivered under the theme “The Way Forward: A Plan for Recovery and Progress”.

The Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement “despite the historically challenging economic circumstances in the wake of Hurricane Dorian and the COVID-19 pandemic, the government’s vision and plans for ‘A New Day’ remain on course to deliver on the holistic strategies outlined in its Blueprint for Change”.

It said that in the eight months since coming to office, the government has already provided a supplemental budget and a mid-year report “that has reallocated government resources to prioritize immediate relief for the people and lay the foundations for economic recovery”.

The statement said that the budget will “continue to build on this foundation, charting a better way forward”. (CMC)
