COVID-19 Update for Saturday May 28

Barbados recorded 118 new cases of COVID-19 – 58 males and 60 females – on Saturday, May 28, from 554 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of this number, there were 24 people under the age of 18, and 94 who were 18 years and older.

There are now 48 people in isolation facilities and 2 172 in home isolation.

No deaths were recorded, and that number remains at 446.

To date, the public health laboratory has carried out 685 363 tests since February 2020, and recorded 80 324 cases (36 681 males and 43 643 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for the virus, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 355 (71.1 per cent of the eligible population). The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 152 767 (56.4 per cent of the total population, or 66.9 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
