Campus Trendz killer Jamar DeWayne Bynoe, who was sentenced to death for his September 3, 2010 actions, had his convictions affirmed but was ordered resentenced by the Court of Appeal this morning.

Bynoe, formerly of Headley’s Land, Bank Hall, St Michael, was found guilty in July 2016 for the murder of six women – Shanna Griffith, Kelly-Ann Welch, Pearl Cornelius, Kellishaw Olivierre, Nikita Belgrave and Tiffany Harding – in the Campus Trendz blaze.

He was ordered hanged for his actions.

However, through his attorney, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim, he appealed and filed nine grounds.

Those grounds were rebutted by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale.

Moments ago, Justice of Appeal Margaret Reifer told Bynoe and his counsel that the original Court of Appeal Panel had found no merit in the grounds.

However the Court of Appeal said since the mandatory sentence of death had been removed, that sentence would be vacated and the court would be remitting Bynoe’s matter back to the High Court for him to be re-sentenced. (HLE)
