Brathwaite to answer ‘counterfeit’ charges

Leroy Fitzgerald Brathwaite is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to answer charges in connection with counterfeit items.

The 58-year-old of Wanstead Heights, St James, is facing almost ten charges related to unauthorised use of Nike, Jordan, Louis Vuitton and Puma trademarks.

On September 7, 2021, officers from the Financial Crimes Investigations Asset Recovery unit executed a search warrant at a store operated by Brathwaite in Swan Street, The City, and discovered a large quantity of goods which were suspected to be counterfeit.

The items were seized and kept in police custody.

Brathwaite and arrested and charged on June 9 and is scheduled to appear before the Traffic Court on Monday.

The eight charges comprise unauthorised use of trademark and possession of goods bearing unauthorised trademarks of Nike, Puma, Louis Vuitton and Jordan. (PR/SAT)
