Coppin’s vision for the BCA

Wendell Coppin is a man on a mission to bring efficiency and effectiveness to local cricket’s governing body, the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA).

Coppin was recently appointed manager, cricket operations and development of the BCA after serving seven years in the post of team operations manager of the Barbados Pride team.

A former Barbados and West Indies Under-19 pacer, and development officer for the Americas for the sport’s world governing body, the ICC, Coppin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the job.

He is essentially the new director of cricket at the BCA, a post previously held by current marketing manager Steven Leslie. He says there is work to be undertaken on several fronts to enable the island to continue being the production house for some of the finest players the sport has known.

“The job is about managing everything from grass roots to international cricket,” he told MIDWEEK SPORT in a wide-ranging interview. (AR)
