Mother, daughter for netball series

Teenage shooter Jada Smith will have the chance to appear on a senior Barbados netball team with her mother, Sabreena Smith against St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in a three-match series this week.

The SVG girls will battle the Bajan Gems on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Netball Stadium, and Jada and Sabreena have been selected in the 15-member Barbados squad.

Jada was the starting goal shooter with the Under-23 Gems who captured silver at the inaugural Caribbean Games in Guadeloupe over the past week. She made her senior team debut when the Gems competed at the OECS Games in Dominica earlier this year.

At that time the experienced Sabreena was recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in Scotland in December. (KB)
