Man rescued from canal

A man who fell into the canal at Speightstown, St Peter, late on Wednesday was rescued by fire officers.

Police public affairs and communications officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss said the canal was about seven feet deep, but it did not contain any water.

He said the man went to relieve himself and fell into the canal.

While he did not suffer any serious injury he was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance to be treated for a cut to his forehead and evaluation.

Inniss said the man was 55 years-old and lived at Jackson, St Michael.
