It is time to press the brakes on the “bad behaviour” in the transport sector, says chairman of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) Roy Raphael.
In an interview yesterday, Raphael said his association and the Association of Public Transport Operators could not by themselves curtail deviance in the sector, adding it would take a multi-pronged approach to bring an end to the “ZR-van culture” in Barbados.
Raphael was speaking on the heels of recently circulated videos on social media showing several public service vehicle (PSV) workers fighting and being involved in vehicular accidents.
Although the AOPT chairman said he did not watch the videos, he said he was aware of the deviant behaviour among PSV workers.
He added that in an effort to reduce the number of such incidents his association opened a complaints department that relied on the expertise of two former law enforcement officers to monitor the conduct of operators on duty. (CA)
