Windies seek to avoid series sweep

GEORGETOWN – Crisis-hit West Indies will seek to halt a worrying trend when they face Bangladesh today in the final One-Day International of the three-match series here.

The Caribbean side is desperate for a win, having lost both matches so far to slump to their fourth straight series defeat to the Asian visitors. Overall this year, they have suffered ten defeats in 14 ODIs.

Captain Nicholas Pooran, also enduring a slump in ODI form, said West Indies were hoping for a strong finish to the series but this meant batsmen coming up with answers quickly to counter Bangladesh’s spin-based attack.

“We’ve discussed about batting 50 overs . . . regardless of if you’re batting first or batting second, just find a way,” Pooran said. (CMC)
