COVID-19 Update for August 1

Barbados recorded 215 new COVID-19 cases, 86 males and 129 females, on Monday, August 1, from the 550 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The positive cases comprised 34 people under the age of 18, and 181 who were 18 years and older.

There were 68 people in isolation facilities, while 2 694 were in home isolation.

As at August 1, there were 495 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 729 610 tests since February 2020, and recorded 92 516 COVID-19 cases (42 078 males and 50 438 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 162 960 (71.3 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 154 016 (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
