The family of a Barbadian killed in a police-involved shooting in one of Trinidad and Tobago’s crime-filled communities is hoping video footage can provide some insight into what led to his death.

Kyle King, a 34-year-old with a four-month-old daughter, died on the driver’s side of his car just after 1 a.m. yesterday.

He lost his life a few metres from the St Barb’s Police Post in Laventille, just outside the capital Port of Spain.

King’s cousin, Adrian, who also lives in the area of Boxhill Trace in Laventille, but did not provide his last name fearing reprisal, said the family wanted answers as Kyle never had an interaction with law enforcement in his time living in the twin-island republic, but was now being accused of shooting at police officers from inside his vehicle.

King lived with the same relative. (BA)
