COVID-19 Update for August 4

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 534 new COVID-19 cases, 221 males and 313 females, from the 1 229 tests carried out on Thursday, August 4.

The cases comprised 91 people under the age of 18, and 443 who were 18 years and older.

There were 67 people in isolation facilities, while 3 042 were in home isolation. Two women, aged 91 and 98, succumbed to the virus on Thursday.

As at August 4, there were 498 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 733 098 tests since February 2020, and recorded 94 093 COVID-19 cases (42 739 males and 51,354 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 162 974 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 154 055 (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
