Commonwealth Games silver medallist and Barbados’ top sprint hurdler Shane Brathwaite has lost his professional contract with global sports brand and shoe manufacturing giant, Adidas.

The 33-year-old, who is one of the island’s most decorated and consistent athletes on the international stage, made the shocking revelation after winning silver in the men’s 110-metre hurdles final at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Brathwaite’s impressive display and season’s best time of 13.30 seconds at the Alexander Stadium came one week after he made the final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, clocking a wind-aided 13.21 seconds.

However, Brathwaite announced that he no longer has a running deal with the German company which is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and the second largest in the world, after Nike. (AGB)
